Your year in film, in numbers
Every December, music apps tell you what you listened to. Films and series are harder, because you watch in so many places. Here's how to get an honest picture anyway.
Start logging now, not in December
Statistics can only be as good as what you saved. The most important habit: log it when the credits roll. Title, date and a rating if you like. It takes seconds when the tool is quick.
Already seen a lot? Add what you remember as “seen before”, without a date. It counts as seen, but doesn't mix with this year's numbers.
Numbers that say something
How much, and when
Films, episodes and hours are fun to see, but the spread is often more interesting: the months you watched most, and the days of the week.
Rewatches
The films you watch again and again say more about your taste than almost anything else. They only show if every watch is saved on its own, with its own date.
The people behind it
Which directors and actors keep turning up? Many people discover a favourite director they never thought about.
Genres and taste
The genres you watch most, and the ones you rate highest. They're not always the same.
Honest numbers, not guesses
Statistics built on assumptions (“you probably watched the whole season”) are quickly wrong. The best statistics come from exactly what you logged, with the dates you gave, and show nothing they don't know.
Share it, but only what you want
A year in film is fun to show off, as a story picture or compared with a friend. Make sure you choose what's shared, and with whom.
Viewary works out your year in film from what you log: films, episodes and hours, your longest streak, favourite genres, directors and actors, a calendar of your year and your viewing DNA, plus a picture of your month or year to share. Free, no ads.
